Tucked off a winding street on the Chianti Trail lies Fattoria di Corsignano, a winery and quaint farmhouse about 20 minutes from the Tuscan city of Siena.
My friends and I visited the winery in May for a two-night stay. The winery offers apartments for short-term rent, and we were able to reserve a two-bedroom with a full kitchen and living room. The apartment featured rustic furniture, red tiled floors and a view of the magnificent Tuscan countryside.
We spent one night dining at a restaurant located a step from the farmhouse grounds - Nonna's Hosteria - which included a special tasting menu of small tapas-style dishes, including bruschetta with kidney beans and pancetta with a fresh salad. The 25 euro per person price including 13 dishes, all with high quality ingredients such as truffles and Tuscan prosciutto.
The fattoria's location was perfect for a mix of sightseeing and relation. We spent time swimming in the pool, some got massages or went for a bike ride and we ended the day with a free wine tasting. The tasting - which featured three wines - included Tuscan bruschetta (grilled bread rubbed with garlic, a pinch of salt and the Fattoria's olive oil).
I highly recommend Fattoria di Corsignano for anyone looking to visit the Chianti trail.
